ThetaNoon Directory Just Got A New Look

February 5th, 2009

We are glad to announce that since this morning, the ThetaNoon solar energy systems directory has a new look. We got a lot of valuable input for our users, and implemented some of the changes you requested.
ThetaNoon is now easier to navigate, less cluttered, and focuses on what ThetaNoon does best: provide valuable information for anyone interested in solar energy systems – solar panels, water heaters and other solar technologies.
Some of the new features we included:

  • Directory browser – a table providing immediate access to all solar energy systems monitored by ThetaNoon. The systems are grouped together by system type – silicon solar panels, thin-film solar panels, water heaters and concentrating solar. An image thumbnail provides a quick idea on how the systems looks. If you want to get more information on a specific system, simply click it’s row in the table, and the additional information will appear in a new tab.
  • News – We will be updating the Thetanoon directory with news snippets, either from this blog, or from any other interesting source. All news are related to solar energy, of course.
  • Useful links – Links to useful resources can be found in the bottom right side of the screen. Amongst the links, you can find links to the Tetanoon official Facebook application (called I-SEA), and the Google gadget. Their purpose is to help anyone interested in solar energy increase awareness amongst his friends and sire visitors.

We plan additional improvements in user experience, such as building a tree browser, categorized by country.

If you have any feedback, please go to the Contact Us page and leave us a message. And as always, we suggest you register to our RSS feed, to get all the latest news about solar energy systems.

I-SEA: The ThetaNoon Facebook Application Is Now Available

January 28th, 2009

Thetanoon’s main goal is to increase awareness to solar energy. The ThetaNoon system tracker is the main source of information on active solar energy systems – solar panels and water heaters.

We wanted to reach the largest possible audience as fast as we can,so we created an application for Facebbok. Facebook is the most popular social network in the world, with over 150 Million active users. The application allows any Facebook user to get access to information available on ThetaNoon – solar system electrical output, CO2 savings, images and the owner’s experience.

The application is called I-SEA (like I see) – Increasing Solar Energy Awareness. If you would like to make a real impact on solar energy awareness, consider adding I-SEA to your Facebook profile. By adding I-SEA, your friends will become more aware to the maturity of solar energy technologies and the great benefit they provide.

You can read more about the application on I-SEA’s About page. Help us spreading the word.

Increase Awarness Of Solar Energy Using The ThetaNoon Gadget

September 19th, 2008

We are happy to announce that the ThetaNoon Carbon Reduction Awareness Gadget is now available. The Gadget connects to the ThetaNoon monitoring system, randomly selects a solar energy system, and presents, in a nice chart, the carbon emission reduction achieved by the system, during the last 24 hours.

Adding the ThetaNoon to your website or blog is a simple, yet effective way to increase awareness of the real world usage of alternative energies in general, and solar technology in particular, as a means to reduce global carbon footprint, thus creating a better, cleaner world for us to live in.

ThetaNoon Project Update – Moving To Google’s Infrastructure

August 19th, 2008

We have been working hard on providing users who asked to participate in our Beta program with the access they need to the ThetaNoon system.

We strongly believe in the huge potential of our service and we aim at serving large numbers of users. Therefore, we chose to re-develop our application to run on top of Google’s infrastructure. That means close to infinite scalability – Google is very good at making sure that each service running on its infrastructure will (almost) always be available and response times minimal.

Re-developing  our application will require some more time. We will let you know as soon as there is a version available for you to use.

In the meantime, we will keep you updated on the latest news from the solar energy world, focusing on solar panels and solar water heaters.

Join The ThetaNoon Beta – Measure Your Solar Energy Savings

June 1st, 2008

ThetaNoon is happy to announce that it is now in Beta. That means that we start accepting new community members. As a ThetaNoon member, you will be able to track in near real time the amount of energy your are saving using solar panels or solar water heaters. You can also ( and we strongly encourage you to ) display your energy savings statistics in your home page, blog or social network profile page. By doing so, you will help achieve the main goal of the ThetaNoon community – increase awareness to the huge potential of solar energy in our day to day life.

To take part in our Beta program, please drop us a note – we will get back to you with the information you need to get started. You might also want to read the F.A.Q to get a better understanding on how ThetaNoon works.
